Fourth Grade Homework Guidelines

At John Newbery Elementary, we agree that homework is an important part of your child’s education. It is meant to provide thoughtful practice and enrichment. Please have your child come and talk to me if an assignment is frustrating. In general, homework will include the following:

Reading - Your fourth grader will be expected to read a minimum of 150 minutes a week. (These minutes can include time your child reads to himself as well as time spent listening to someone else read. Both are beneficial.) Expectations are:

Math - Your child is expected to master the multiplication and division facts up through 12. Expectations are:

Please note, your child might not have math homework every day.

Spelling - Expectations are:

Your fourth grader will be responsible for completing and maintaining the homework sheet. Each day, we will include assignments and note special events. This is a valuable communication tool, so please look at it every day. Thank you so much for your help and support.
