Finding the way through the MAZE of information available today on many topics can be frustrating for students.The Pathfinders on this site were developed to help students, teachers and parents begin Big6 Skills, Step 2: Information Seeking Strategies and Step 3: Location and Access.

Pathfinders guide users to a variety of information in the school library media center, on the Internet, and in the community. Types of information include:

Print materials

Books, magazines, newspapers, pamphlets

Dewey Decimal Numbers

Numbers to browse that are related to the topic

Internet resources

Preselected web sites, online magazine indexes

Keywords and Phrases

Suggested words to help search for information on the topic

Non-print materials

Videotapes, CD-ROM resources, laserdiscs, globes, kits, maps, etc.

Community Resources
