Dear Parents:

Welcome to John Newbery! The education of our children takes a concerted effort by all involved: the staff members, the parents, and the students. Together we can prepare an environment in which learning takes place. The following information should aid us all in achieving a productive school year:

  • The school office opens at 7:20 a.m. daily and closes at 3:30 p.m.
  • The bus dispatcher/supervisor can be reached at 662-6168.
  • Students should not arrive at school before 7:40 a.m. (unless they ride the bus) as playground supervision begins at that time.
  • Breakfast will be served from 7:30 a.m.-7:50 a.m. daily except on Mondays when we have late start. It will be served from 9:00-9:20 on Mondays.
  • Unless we have specific written instructions to the contrary, students will be sent to their home address after school. If the student regularly goes to a different address (daycare, grandparents, baby-sitter, etc.), one note for the year is sufficient. If the student plans to ride the bus to a friend’s house after school, a note from the parent to the teacher/bus driver is needed for the student to be allowed on the bus. The note must be presented to the office prior to school letting out in order to receive a bus pass. If the buses are already out front, no pass will be issued.
  • Please make all after-school arrangements with your child prior to school starting each day. This will keep the interruptions to your child’s classroom to a minimum.
  • When a student needs to be absent, it is necessary for you to promptly notify the school office at 664-8930.
  • Please send students to school prepared for the activities of the day.
